  • "Ride Safe" is all about motorcycle safety and protective equipment. Jay certainly seems qualified to dispense the ideas and recommendations that he does. I would imagine that this site is a particular boon to parents of young motorcycle riders to help them get safety concerns into their off-spring's heads. Technically, I had no problems on the site. I think it's an attractive and informative site, worth the visit to all bikers and the emphasis on safety is a very, very good thing. Well done..

Sunday morning at the motorcycle safety course

Published by redb1ker at 5:21 am under Motorcycling Edit This

Ok, I am off a button hole here since I am writing this on Monday. Sunday preparations are a little easier for the instructors. We still have to be to the site early enough to start and warm the motorcycles. We still have to make sure that any repairs from Saturday are done (broken levers, bent pegs…). We still have to make sure we have all of our gear ready and we still have to have the range blocked off and all of our equipment at the range to run the safety course. We don’t have to ride the motorcycles up. One of us waits at the shed for the students while the other is setting up the range. Students come and sign in, gear up and ride the motorcycles up to the range. This is why we ask you to come a bit early. We want to be on the range at the given time ready to run the first exercise.
Speaking of the first exercise Sunday morning… The first exercise Sunday morning is exercise 10. I am not going to talk about exactly what it is. I just want to share some things about this exercise. It is WAAAAAAAAY easier to do than it looks. Just follow the coaches instructions. You may not get it perfect the first time or even the second but, you will run the exercise circuit more than twice. Relax and listen to the coaching. Believe me, this is the biggest challenge of the day. The rest is just icing after that. How do you suppose I felt the first couple of times that I demoed that exercise in front of 12 people. It is very simple, not easy if you think too much.
